Removal (Transmission Side Joint)

NOTE:
When replacing, use a complete CV joint boot repair kit. Kit will include a new boot, clamps, special lubricant and inner CV joint circlip.
- Remove axle shaft. See DRIVE AXLE SHAFTS (FRONT, ALL WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLES) .
- Clean axle shaft.
- Grip axle shaft (1) in vise with protective jaws, wheel side joint (2) and transmission side (3). See Figure.
- Release retainers (1, 2) and pull back gaiter (3). Detach tulip element (4). See Fig 1.
- Remove retaining ring (1). Detach tripod star (2) from splined shaft (3). See Fig 2.
- Carefully clean all parts with a cloth.
