Removal & Installation
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 9 other vehicles, including the 2000 BMW Z3, 2000 BMW 328i, 2000 BMW 323i, 1999 BMW Z3, and 1999 BMW M3. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
- On all models except Z3 and M Coupe and Roadster, remove rear seat. Remove SRS control unit screws. Disconnect electrical connectors and remove control unit from vehicle. On Z3 and M Coupes and Roadsters, remove center console, disconnect electrical connectors, remove SRS control unit screws and remove control unit.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure arrow on top of SRS control unit points toward front of vehicle. New SRS control units must be re-encoded. Activate air bag system. Ensure system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
