18 12 030 Removing And Installing/Replacing Rear Muffler

NOTE:

For Special Tool identification, see Figure .

Special Tools Required: 

WARNING: Scalding hazard! Only perform these tasks after exhaust system has cooled down.

Release screw connection of flanges between rear muffler and intermediate pipes.

Installation: 

Check seal, replace if necessary.

Support rear muffler with jack and special tool 31 2 220 and secure against falling out.

Release nuts (1) on right from rear muffler.

Release nuts (1) on left from rear muffler.

Nut (2) is concealed under rear apron.

Carefully pull panel away and release nut (2).

Carefully lower rear muffler and remove.

Installation: 

Align tailpipes on left and right of rear muffler to rear apron.
