Removal & Installation (3-Series - E46)

Idle speed control valve is located under intake air manifold, above throttle body. Remove air filter housing. Remove Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor. Pull throttle cable upward out of retainer and unhook. Loosen hose clamps and detach intake hose ducting from throttle assembly and idle speed control valve. Disconnect resonance flap and idle speed control valve connectors. Loosen retaining screw on cable duct mounting. Loosen 2 idle speed control valve retaining screws. Remove idle speed control valve and retainer from intake air manifold. See Fig 1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Replace idle speed control valve seal. Coat inside of seal with antiseize compound.
