Removal & Installation (M Roadster)

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 82 other vehicles, including the 2006 BMW M3, 2006 BMW 330Ci, 2006 BMW 325Ci, 2005 BMW M3, and 2005 BMW 745i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Remove fuel from fuel tank. Remove complete rear axle. See DIFFERENTIALS & AXLE SHAFTS article. Remove carbon canister. See CARBON FILTER . Unfasten ground strap. Using Special Tool (161040), unlock and remove connecting nipple from tank ventilation line. Disconnect fuel hose with Special Tool (133010) and remove supply line. See Figure.
Disconnect fuel hose with Special Tool (133010) and remove return line. Remove bolts on clamping straps. Support fuel tank. Remove bolt at center of tank. Disconnect plug connection. Pull fuel tank down to remove. See Fig 1-Fig 5 To install, reverse removal procedure.
