Removal & Installation (3-Series - Z3)

Remove fuel from fuel tank. On right tank section, disconnect fuel pump connection for fuel pump and fuel level sensor. On left tank section, disconnect fuel level sensor connection. Disconnect fuel return hose and tank compensating hose. Disconnect fuel hoses with special tool (13 3 010) and remove supply and return lines. Remove heat baffle plate screws. Remove heat baffle plate. Remove complete propeller shaft. Unfasten cable on handbrake lever. Press cable out of clips and pull through retaining brackets. Release hose clamp and remove fuel filler hose. Remove tank mounting screws, lower and remove tank. Disconnect tank vent pipe. Unclip vent pipe to carbon canister. Disconnect tank vent pipe. Disconnect filler vent pipe. Remove fuel tank. To install, reverse removal procedure. Replace all hose clamps. Install washers between retaining strap at right outside and crossmember (rear take-up) at front. See Fig 1-Fig 12 .
