Removal & Installation

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 82 other vehicles, including the 2006 BMW M3, 2006 BMW 330Ci, 2006 BMW 325Ci, 2005 BMW M3, and 2005 BMW 745i. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Turn ignition off. Remove lower trim from instrument panel. Press accelerator pedal by hand to avoid bending pedal tip and falsifying measured values. Accelerator sensor is installed on pedal block. See Fig 1. Unscrew and remove control unit from bracket. See Fig 2. Remove bracket. Remove retaining ring and unhook lever. See Fig 3. Disconnect electrical connector. Remove screws. See Fig 4.
  2. To install, note position of pedal travel sensor and lever position. Lever No. 1 is factory-set and must not be released. See Fig 5. If lever is released, entire sensor must be replaced. Install bracket with weld-in nuts. See Fig 6. Check adjustment of kickdown switch.
