Preliminary work
- Refer to REMOVING TANK COVER ON LEFT AND RIGHT .
- Refer to REMOVING STIFFENING STRUT .

- Perform all work only on components that have cooled down.

- Remove and install heavy components with the aid of another person/other persons.

Grinding dust from grinding of components.

- Directly draw off the grinding dust.
- Ensure adequate ventilation.
- Conduct all work in appropriate personal protective equipment only.

Shavings resulting from sawing or grinding components.

- Conduct all work in appropriate personal protective equipment only.
- Wear safety goggles and hand protection.
- If the separation point is not marked by a punch mark in the pipe, then determine the separation point by means of the length of the pipe on the new front silencer (2).
- Mark the separation point on the component being replaced.
Protect the front silencer (2) and rear silencer (1) from falling.
- Cut through the component to be replaced at the marked point with a suitable tool.
- Version with ribbon clamp:
Detach the ribbon clamp (1).
- Version with V ribbon clip:
Unfasten clamp (1).
- Loosen nut (1).
- Guide out and remove front silencer (1) with the help of a support person.
