Installing The Rear Left Side Panel

Install reinforcement plate (1) and tack by welding.

Apply adhesive to the bonding surfaces.

Apply sealant to cavity sealings.

Install the side panel with the help of a second person.
During installation, ensure that sufficient adhesive has been applied to all bonding surfaces.
Align the side panel in the areas of the separating cut and attach it using locking pliers.
Tighten the plastic nuts of the reinforcement plates.

Rivet the side panel in area (1) with blind rivets.

Rivet the side panel in the areas (2) and (3) with punch rivets.

Rivet the side panel in the areas (1) and (2) with blind rivets N3.

Install punch rivets in the areas (1) to (4).

To do this, note the welding extent for areas (1) and (2) (see overview of the joining method).

In the area (1), install 6 x punch rivets N4.
In the area (2), install 2 x punch rivets N5.

Install punch rivets in the areas (1) and (2).

Area (3) = welding method for the reinforcement of the C-pillar.

Also apply adhesive (2) to the outer wheel arch section (3).
(1) = side panel wheel arch

Flange the edge of wheel arch (3) of the side panel flush to the outer wheel arch section.
Do not bead with sharp edges as the crimping edge could tear.
Fill crimping edge fully with adhesive.
Dimension (a) = 5 mm

2. rear quarter panel
Seal the new part with sealant in the same way as for standard production.
Seal with sealant in the area (3) according to the standard.

Avoid excessive heat input on the adjacent adhesive areas.

Installing the EMC screw

Drill the hole with a diameter of 4.2 mm after the adhesive completely hardens.
Screw in the EMC screw.

Seal the EMC screw with the sealant.
