Installing The Tail Panel

Precondition 

Bonding surfaces are cleaned.

• Apply adhesive to bonding surfaces.

  Body adhesive K5

• Install the tail panel.

• Tie back sheet metal cutout (1).
• In area (1), set 2 bores Ø 4.2 mm for the blind rivet.

• Fix the new part in areas (1) to (3) with blind rivets N3.

  CONSUMABLE SPECIFICATION 

  Blind rivet N3  Ø 4 mm; clamping area 1-3 mm

• Rivet the new part in the areas (1) to (3) with blind rivets.

• Fix the new part in the areas (1) with blind rivets.

• Set 6 x punch rivets N4 in area (1).

  CONSUMABLE SPECIFICATION 

  Punch rivet N4  Ø 3 mm; 4 mm long

• Set 2 x punch rivets N5 from the outer side in area (2).

  CONSUMABLE SPECIFICATION 

  Punch rivet N5  Ø 5 mm; 5 mm long

• Set 10 x punch rivets N5 in area (1).

  Note the three-sheet connection and the setting direction of the punch rivets: Place the punch rivets from inside to outside.

Installing the EMC screw 

• Drill a hole with a diameter of 4.2 mm.

  In the case of glued connections, only drill the hole after the adhesive has fully hardened.

• Screw in the EMC screw.

• Seal the EMC screw with the sealant.

• Press the tail panel in area (1) and remove the emerging adhesive.
• Install the support for the bumper cover until the adhesive has hardened.
• Install 3 EMC screws in areas (2) after the adhesive has hardened.
