Preparing New Parts

- Remove the adhesive residues on the bonding surfaces of the connecting plate.
- Seal the hole (1) by MAG weld.
- Drill out holes (2) to dia. 6.8 mm.
- Remove adhesive residue from all bonding surfaces.
- Prepare area (1) for the structural bonding of steel on aluminum.
- Adjust the new part using an alignment bracket or a universal fixture and secure it.
- Prepare areas (1) for structural adhesive bonding with blind rivets of aluminum on steel.
- Transfer the holes to the new part in areas (1). Drill holes with Ø 6.8 mm.
- Adjust new part (1).
- Prepare areas (2) for joining by welding.
- Prepare area (3) for structural adhesive bonding with blind rivets of aluminum on steel.
- In the area (3), drill holes to Ø 6.8 mm. Select the number and position in line with the self-tapping screws of the standard production.
- Prepare area (4) for structural adhesive bonding with blind rivets of steel on steel.
- In the area (4), drill one hole to Ø 6.8 mm. Select the position in line with the self-tapping screw of the standard production.
Welding the ground pin and the coarse thread bolt onto the reinforcement of the engine mount
NOTE:
Schematic diagram is for example purposes. Some parts may differ in certain details.
- Take the quantity and position from the component to be replaced.
- Weld the ground pin (1) and coarse thread bolt (2) onto the new part.
- Prepare areas (1) for structural adhesive bonding with blind rivets of aluminum on steel.
- Transfer the holes to the new part in areas (1). Drill holes with Ø 6.8 mm.
- Prepare area (1) for structural adhesive bonding with blind rivets of aluminum on steel.
- Transfer the hole positions from the wheelhouse to the spring support in area (1). Drill out holes to dia. 6.8 mm.
- Prepare area (1) for structural adhesive bonding with blind rivets of aluminum on steel.
- Transfer the hole positions from the engine compartment bulkhead to the spring support in area (1). Drill out holes to dia. 6.8 mm.
- Prepare areas (1) for structural adhesive bonding with blind rivets of aluminum on steel.
- Transfer the hole positions from the wheelhouse to the spring support in area (1). Drill out holes to dia. 6.8 mm.
- Prepare the area of the recess (1) for joining with 2 x spot-welding.
Note the structural adhesive bonding in the area (2).
- Make separating cut (1) on new part in accordance with separating cut on vehicle.

- Prepare a reinforcement plate (1) for the separating cut (2).
Prepare separating cut (1) and reinforcement plate (2) for joining by welding.
- Prepare areas (3) for joining by welding.
- Prepare the area of the recess (4) for joining with 2 x spot-welding.
Note the structural adhesive bonding in the area (5).
- Prepare a reinforcement plate (1) for the separating cut (2).
Prepare separating cut (1) and reinforcement plate (2) for joining by welding.
- Prepare areas (3) for joining by welding.
- Prepare the recesses (4) for joining with 2 x spot-welding.
Note the structural adhesive bonding in the area (5).
- Position the holder (1) for the brake hose in the wheel arch.
Prepare area (2) for structural adhesive bonding of aluminum on aluminum with blind rivets.
- In the area (1), drill 2 holes Ø 6.8 mm according to the schematic.
- Remove the new parts and deburr the bores.
Replacing the coarse thread bolt and threaded weld bolt (steel surface)
NOTE:

- Renew the coarse thread bolt (1) and the threaded weld bolt (2).
Parts: Coarse thread bolt, threaded weld bolt
Take the number and position from the component to be replaced or the add-ons.
- Weld coarse thread bolt (1) and threaded weld bolt (2) onto the new part.
Check ground pins and replace if necessary
