When replacing the backrest frame: Remount components

Removing the drive motor for the headrest height adjuster 

• Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.

• Remove the drive motor for the headrest height adjuster (1) at the attachment points (2) in the direction of the arrow.

Removing the front head rest guides 

• Unclip and guide out the cover (1) at the arrows.
• Remove cover (2).

• Loosen the detents (1).

Removing the head restraint guide 

• Unlock the locks (1) and remove the head restraint guides (2) in the direction of the arrow.

Remove lumbar support on front seat 

Precondition 

The lumbar support and backrest adjustment are completely pressure-free.

• Release the screws (1) and guide out the air cushion of the left/right backrest adjustment.

• Disconnect the plug connections (2) and unclip the existing cable clip.
• Unclip the lumbar support (1) at the clips (3) and guide out the retaining tabs.

• Carefully guide out the lumbar support (1) to the side, complete with the pump unit and valve manifold.

Removing the release mechanism on the front seat 

• Release latch mechanisms (arrows) and remove cover cap (1).

• Drill out blind rivets (1) on the front and rear side of the backrest frame.
• Guide out release mechanism on the front seat (2).
• Guide out cable for release mechanism on the front seat (3) and remove release mechanism on the front seat (2).

Installing the release mechanism on the front seat 

• Position the release mechanism on the front seat (2) and feed in the cable linkage for the release mechanism on the front seat (3).
• Position the release mechanism at the front seat (2) correctly.
• Replace blind rivets (1).

  Parts:  Blind rivet

• Fasten the release mechanism at the front seat (2) using the blind rivets (1) on the front and rear sides of the backrest frame.

• Press the cover cap (1) until the locks (arrows) are engaged.

Install lumbar support on front seat 

Precondition 

Lumbar support and backrest width adjustment completely depressurized.

• Carefully insert the lumbar support (1) complete with pump unit and valve block as shown.

• Position the lumbar support (1) at the clips (3) and clip in.
• Connect plug connections (2) and clip in existing cable clips.

• Position the air cushion of the backrest width adjustment (2) on the left and right and tighten screws (1).

Oval-head screw with collar	tightening torque	2.5 Nm

• Insert head restraint guides (1) and fit.

• Make sure that the detents (1) are engaged correctly.

• Insert the cover (2).
• Thread in the cover (1) and clip it onto the clips.

Installing the headrest guide 

• Correctly position the headrest guides (2) and install in the direction of the arrow.

  The head restraint guides (2) are marked at the top against incorrect assembly with an arrow in the direction of travel.

• The detents (1) must engage audibly.

Installing the drive for head restraint height adjustment 

• Replace the drive for the head restraint height adjustment (1).

  Parts:  Drive for headrest height adjustment

• Install the drive for head restraint height adjustment (1) at the attachment points (2) in the arrow direction.
