Removing the engine wiring harness for sensor system 2
WARNING:
Working on 12 V electrical system.

- Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- Detach battery ground lead from battery.
- For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.

Damage to battery terminal, the safety battery terminal or the intelligent battery sensor (IBS).
Damaged battery terminals can lead to malfunctions or vehicle electrical system faults.

- Detach battery terminal from battery pole by carefully shifting to and fro. Do not pry off using a tool.

- Leave the electrical components in their original packaging until they are being installed. Only use the original packaging for returning the product. Always package removed components straight away.
- Read and comply with user information on using the associated special tool 12 7 060.
- Only tap the housings of electrical components. Do not tap pins or multi-pin connectors directly.
- Wear electrically conductive clothing and antistatic shoes (with ESD symbol).

If control units are disconnected, fault memory entries and functional limitations may occur.
The fault memory entries must be read out and deleted if necessary.

- Unlock and disconnect the plug connection (1) from the control valve (2) for the piston cooling.
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Unlock plug connections (1) and disconnect.
- Unlock plug connections (2) and disconnect.
- Unlock plug connections (1) and disconnect.
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Unlock connector (2) and disconnect it from the control unit bracket (3).
- Unlock connector (1) and disconnect it from the control unit bracket (2).
- Unlock the lock (arrow).
- Disconnect the cable holder (1) upwards from the control unit holder (2).
- Unlock the locks (arrows).
- Feed out the engine wiring harness (1) for the sensor system 2 and set it aside.
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Loosen the clamp (arrow).
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Release the clamps (arrows).
- Unlock and disconnect plug connections (1).
- Release the clamps (arrows).
- Feed out the engine wiring harness (2) for the sensor system 2 and set it aside.
- Unlock and disconnect plug connections (1).
- Release the clamps (arrows).
- Loosen screws (1).
- Guide out cable holder (2) and set aside.
- Unlock and disconnect plug connections (1).
- Release the clamps (arrows).
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Unlock and release the lock (1) with the screwdriver (2).
- Guide the connector (3) in the arrow direction out of the carrier plate and set it to the side.
- Unlock the locks (arrows).
- Feed the connector (1) out of the carrier plate and place it to one side.
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Unlock plug connections (1) and disconnect.
- Unlock the locks (arrows).
- Feed out the engine wiring harness (2) for the sensor system 2 and set it aside.
- Unlock plug connections (1) and disconnect.
- Loosen the clamp (arrow).
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Loosen nut (2).
- Pull out and remove the retainer (3).
- Feed out auxiliary coolant pump (4) and set aside.
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Loosen the tank vent line with pressure sensor (2) from the holders (arrows) and set aside.
- Unlock and disconnect the plug connections (1) and (2).
- Loosen screw (3).
- Unlock the locks (4).
- Feed out the engine wiring harness (5) for the sensor system 2 and set it aside.
- Feed out and remove the engine wiring harness (1) for the sensor system 2.
