Securing the crankcase with the engine bridge

CAUTION:
Components connected to the engine joint or cross member. Injury hazard!
- Check lifting eyes and engine mounting brackets for damage, e.g. cracks.
- Attach the component to correctly mounted engine joints or cross members only.
- Only lift component, do not move it longitudinally or transversely.
- Carefully
position the engine bridge (1) with the help of a support person.
- Maneuver the special tool 0 493 997 (11 8 350) on the bolt (1).
- Screw the nut (M10) (2) onto the bolt as a spacer. Do not tighten nut (2).
- Position special tool 0 493 997 (11 8 350) on the alternator.
- Tighten the bolts (1) of the alternator and the nut (2) (M10).TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
Alternator on component carrier M10x75 Tightening torque 38 Nm M10x125 Tightening torque 38 Nm M10x90 Tightening torque 38 Nm - Guide the engine mounting bracket (3) into special tool 0 493 997 (11 8 350)
and position it.
- Make sure that special tool 0 496 685 (00 6 070) on the left is correctly positioned on the front end.
- Make sure that special tool 0 495 850 (00 0 452)
on the left is correctly
positioned on the carrier support.
- Make sure that special tool 0 496 685 (00 6 070) on the right is correctly positioned on the front end.
- Make sure that special tool 0 495 850 (00 0 452)
on the right is correctly
positioned on the carrier support.
- Align the engine bridge over the special tool 0 493 997 (11 8 350) by shifting it on the profile strips of the special tool and screw it down.
- Guide the engine mounting bracket (1) into special tool 0 493 997 (11 8 350)
(2) and position it.
- Check whether the special tool 0 496 685 (00 6 070)
on the right is correctly
positioned on the front end (1).
- Check whether the special tool 0 495 850 (00 0 452)
on the right is correctly
positioned on the carrier support (1).
- Check whether the special tool 0 496 685 (00 6 070)
on the left is correctly
positioned on the front end (1).
- Check whether the special tool 0 495 850 (00 0 452)
on the left is correctly
positioned on the carrier support (1).
- Release the screw (1) of the right engine mount with a standard tool from the top.
- Keep all the standard tools ready.
Number Description 1 Standard torque wrench 2 Swiveling extension 3 External Torx E14 - Position suitable tool (1).
- Unscrew the screw (1) of the left engine mount on the side using a commercially available tool (2).
- Raise the engine by turning the special tool 2 361 506 (00 6 103) (spindle) by 10 mm.
- Make sure that the engine mounting bracket (1) is correctly positioned on the special tool (2) 0 493 997 (11 8 350).
