Removing the wiring harness section of the transmission wiring harness

- Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- Detach battery ground lead from battery.
- For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.

- Detach battery terminal from battery pole by carefully shifting to and fro. Do not pry off using a tool.

- Leave the electrical components in their original packaging until they are being installed. Only use the original packaging for returning the product. Always package removed components straight away.
- Read and comply with user information on using the associated special tool 12 7 060.
- Only tap the housings of electrical components. Do not tap pins or multi-pin connectors directly.
- Wear electrically conductive clothing and antistatic shoes (with ESD symbol).

If control units are disconnected, fault memory entries and functional limitations may occur.
The fault memory entries must be read out and, if necessary, deleted.

- Unlock the locks (1).
- Guide out cable holder (2) and set aside.
- Unlock lock (1).
- Guide out cable holder (2) and set aside.
- Release the clamps (arrows) and set aside.
- Loosen screws (1).
- Unlock lock (2).
- Remove wiring harness section (3) of the transmission wiring harness and set aside.
- Release the cable bracket (1).
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Release the clamps (arrows).
- Guide out wiring harness section (2) of the transmission wiring harness and keep it aside.
- Unlock the locks (1).
- Feed out the cover (2) and remove.
- Unlock and disconnect the plug connections (1) and (2).
- Loosen clamp (3).
- Feed out the wiring harness section (4) of the transmission wiring harness from the holder (arrow) and set it aside.
- Unlock the lock (1).
- Feed out and remove the connector (2) in the arrow direction from the holder (3).
- Loosen screws (1).
- Remove the holder (2).
- Release the screw (1) and disconnect the ground strap.
- Slowly release the clutch slave cylinder, otherwise air will be sucked in via the sealing sleeve.
The pressure line of clutch slave cylinder remains connected.
- Release the screws (1) and remove the clutch slave cylinder (2) with the holder (3).
- Unlock the locks (1) in arrow direction.
- Pull out the bearing journal (2) in arrow direction and release the gearshift arm (3).
- Detach retaining clip (2).
- Pull the gearshift rod (1) in arrow direction out of the gearshift rod joint (3).
Slightly lower the transmission
- Support the transmission using special tools 2 219 012 and 0 495 498 (23 4 050) .
- Secure the transmission with the luggage strap (1).
- Loosen screws (2).
- Slightly lower the transmission cross member (1) with the transmission.
- Unlock and disconnect the plug connection (1) on the gear sensor.
- Loosen clamp (1).
- Release the clamps (arrows).
- Guide out wiring harness section (1) of the transmission wiring harness and keep it aside.
- Guide out and remove wiring harness (1) of the transmission module.
