Removing Roof Outer Skin

NOTE:
Perform the steps on the left and right side.
- Release the rivets (1) and remove the ground strap (2).
- Remove all 4 ground straps.NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION

- Heat the bonded connection 1 with hot air blower until the adhesive is releases and remove.
- Heat the bonded connection in sections beginning from the rear left and remove.
- Heat the bonded connection 2 beginning from the vehicle interior and remove.
The detailed procedure is described in the operation below.
- Carefully drive in the plastic or wooden wedge (1) at the heated section.
The wedge creates tension between the roof outer skin and the body.
Do not drive in the wedge with force.
If you cannot drive the wedge in, continue to heat a large area of the roof outer skin at the adhesive flange (maximum 180°C).
- Heat the bonded connection with a hot air blower until the adhesive is loosened.
- Heat the next section until the roof outer skin loosens.
- Readjust the plastic wedge and repeat the procedure until the roof outer skin is completely detached.
- Take off roof outer skin.
