Remove the backrest lock

Unlock and fold back rear seat backrest.
NOTE: If the rear seat backrest cannot be unlocked, operate the emergency release.
Unclip the Bowden cable from the holders (1).
Loosen screws (2).

Emergency release of rear seat backrest

Open trunk.
Insert the screwdriver for levering into the opening of the backrest lock.
Press the screwdriver to the center of the vehicle in arrow direction, and in so doing press the mounting point (1) of the Bowden cable outwards in arrow direction.

Guide the backrest lock (1) out slightly and unclip the Bowden cable (2).
