Removing the rear window (rear window broken)
NOTE:

Fold the headlining.
Damage to the headlining. If necessary, the headlining must be replaced.

- Carry out tasks with a second person to assist.
- Support the headlining at the front and back.
Preliminary work
- Refer to REMOVING REAR SEAT BENCH .
- Refer to REMOVING LEFT AND RIGHT BACKREST SIDE SECTION .
- Refer to REMOVING THE INNER DOOR SILL COVER STRIP ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT .
- Refer to REMOVING THE SEAT BELT FINISHER STRIP AT THE LEFT AND RIGHT .
- Refer to REMOVING SIDE TRIM PANEL, REAR LEFT AND RIGHT .
- Refer to REMOVING RIGHT C-PILLAR TRIM PANEL LEFT AND RIGHT .
- Refer to TRIM OF THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT .
- Refer to REMOVING THE BRAKE LIGHT .
CAUTION:
Broken glass due to damaged front/rear or side windows

- Wear safety goggles and cut-resistant protective gloves.
- Unlock plug connections (1) and disconnect.
- Secure cable to rear window with adhesive tape.
- Loosen nut (1).
- Remove the cable (2).
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Remove the cable (2).
- Separate the rear window with a suitable tool (e.g. a cutter with an oscillating knife or special tool 0 410 807).
- Remove all glass splinters (also under the seats).
- Check the safety belts:
- Condition of belt strap
- Function of the roll-up mechanism
- Seat belt locking reel
- seat belt buckle
- Replace any damaged or defective parts.
- If necessary, remove the glass splinters from the housing case of the roller cover for luggage compartment.
- Check the roll-up mechanism of the roller cover for luggage compartment if necessary.
- Remove the adhesive bead on the body using special tool 0 410 436 and clean the adhesive area.
