If installed: Removing strut brace in the rear of the engine compartment

Driving without the strut brace/front-end strut or tension strut is not permitted.

Loosen screws (1) and (2).
Remove strut brace (3).

Install the strut brace (3).
Replace screws (1).

Tighten down screws (1).

Cross-brace to bulkhead
Hexagon screw M 10x25 Replace screws.	Tightening torque	56 Nm

Removing left and right wiper arm

NOTE: Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.

Removing wiper arm

NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to the wiper console.
If the wiper arm is removed without a special tool, the wiper console can break.

Only remove the wiper arm with the described special tool.
Do not lever off the wiper arm, as otherwise the wiper console can break at the predetermined breaking point for active pedestrian protection.

Disconnect the washer fluid hose (1) at the separation point and feed out from the windshield panel guide.

Remove the protective cap (1).
Loosen nut (2).

Detach wiper arm (1) with special tool 0 493 441 (61 6 060) .

Remove windshield panel cover
Release snap fastener (1) of the washer fluid hose (2) and put the washer fluid hose (2) to one side.
Unclip the clips (3) on the windshield panel cover (4).

Beginning from the side, pull up windshield panel cover (1) out of the detent (2).

Removing trailing link at spring bolt

Loosen screws (1) and (2).
Remove tension strut (3) at the shock tower upwards.

Install the tension strut (3) on the shock tower.

Tighten down screws (1).

Installing windshield panel cover

NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage caused by water ingress into the vehicle.
Water ingress into the vehicle may result in damage to components, malfunctions and corrosion.

Ensure correct installation of the components.
Only use undamaged components.

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Before installing the cowl cover, it is imperative to check the correct routing and firm fit of the 48V line.
An incorrectly laid or attached 48V line can be damaged by the wiper kinematics.

Press the cowl cover (1) into the detent (2) beginning from the side.

Install left and right wiper arm

Installing left and right wiper arm

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The window wiper system must be in the zero position.
After installing the cowl cover and before installing the wiper arms:
Operate the window wiper system one time, to ensure the window wiper system has the correct installation position.
Connect the wiper arm (3).

Correctly position the wiper arm (2) in relation to the window edge (1).

Connect the protective cap (1).
Feed the washer fluid hose (1) into the guide of the windshield panel and connection at the separation point.
