Preparing New Part

• Coat the side panel before painting in the areas (1)  and (2)  with the sealant D1.

  CONSUMABLE SPECIFICATION 

  Sealant D1 (seam sealing)

  310 ml

• Paint side panel.

• Release the screws (1)  and remove the guide (2)  .

Check 

• Check the locking mechanism (1)  and the bracket (2)  on the guide (3)  for damage.

Result 

» If the guide (3)  is damaged.

Measure

• Replace the guide (3)  .

• Position the guide (2)  on the new side panel.
• Tighten down screws (1)  .

  TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATION 

  Guides to side panel
  Screw	tightening torque	3.0 Nm

• Release detents (arrows) and dismount the bracket (2)  onto the new part.

• Remount the sheet metal nuts (1)  on the new side panel.

  Release the clip (2)  and the detents (3)  and remount the seal (4)  .

• Carefully release the trim (1)  at the clamps (arrowed) and guide it out of the side panel.

Check 

• Check the clamps (1)  and mounts for the clamps.
• Check the adhesive pads (2)  for damage.

Result 

» If the clamps (2)  are damaged.

Measure

• Replace the clamps (2)  .

  If the mounts are faulty, renew the trim (2)  .

Result

» The adhesive pads (2)  are damaged.

Measure

• Replace adhesive pads (2)  .

• Release the blind rivets (1)  and feed the air duct (2)  out from the side panel.
• Position the air duct (2)  on the new side panel.
• Mount blind rivet (1)  using the special tool 0 496 521 (00 2 230) .

• Position the decorative trim (1)  on the new side panel and engage it at the clamps (arrows).
