Replacing the trim panel for the instrument panel

Removing the glove compartment damper
- Release the plug connection (1) from the dashboard and pull outward.
- Release damper (1) from angle bracket (2) (slightly splay in direction of arrow).
- Open glove compartment lid.
- Turn damper (1) slightly in clockwise direction and remove outward.
- Guide the damper (1) out of the instrument panel.
- Disconnect plug connection (3).
Remove glove box lid
Precondition
The glove box lid is open.
- Slightly raise the glove box lid (1).
- Carefully bend the side sections (2) of the glove box lid (1) inwards so that the glove box lid (1) can be fed out of the dashboard.
- Swivel the glove box lid (1) downwards until it is fed out at the hinges.
Remove glove box light
- Lift out glove box light (1) at marked position (arrow).
- Disconnect associated plug connection.
Removing the air ducts in the dashboard
- Disengage left air duct (1) at the detents (arrows).
- Disengage right air duct (1) at the detents (arrows).
- Disengage air ducts (1) at the detents (arrows).
- Disengage air ducts (1) upwards out of the detents (2).
- Feed out air ducts (1) and remove from dashboard.
Removing front passenger airbag
WARNING: Pyrotechnic components.
Danger! Immobilization period-threatening injuries!- All work on pyrotechnic parts may be carried out by technically experienced and appropriately trained personnel only.
- Replace any damaged part or ones that have been dropped.

WARNING: Airbag unit.
Danger! Immobilization period-threatening injuries!- Before performing any work on the airbag, always disconnect the battery ground lead from the battery.
- Airbag unit may only be set down with the cushion (airbag itself) facing upwards.

- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Unclip the cable clip (2).
- Loosen screw (3).
- Unlock the front passenger airbag (1) in arrow direction and remove upwards.
- Replace the trim panel for the instrument panel.

- Remove the wiring harness (1) and remount on the new trim panel for the instrument panel.
Installing the front passenger airbag

- Airbag unit may only be set down with the cushion (airbag itself) facing upwards.

- Correctly position the front passenger airbag (1) and lock in arrow direction.
- Tighten down screw (3).TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Front passenger airbag on dashboard trim Oval-head screw Tightening torque 2 Nm - Clip in the cable bracket (2).
- Connect plug connection (1) and lock.
Installing the air ducts in the dashboard
- Guide the air ducts (1) into the dashboard and position.
- Engage the air duct (1) on the detents (2) from the top.
- Engage the air ducts (1) into the latch mechanisms (arrows).
- Engage the right air duct (2) on the detents (arrows).
- Engage the left air duct (1) on the detents (arrows).
Installing the glove box light
- Connect associated connector.
- Install the glove box light (1).
Install glove box cover
Precondition
The glove box lid is open.
- Feed in the glove box lid (1) on the hinges and swivel upwards.
- Carefully bend the side sections (2) of the glove box lid inwards (1) and feed into the instrument panel.
Installing the glove compartment dampers
- Connect plug (3).
- Feed the damper (1) into the dashboard.
- Open glove compartment lid.
- Install the damper (1) and slightly twist in counterclockwise direction.
- Engage the damper (1) at the angle bracket (2).
- Install the plug (1) and fasten it to the dashboard.
