Removing Roof Outer Skin
Preliminary work
- Refer to PROVIDING THE NEW PARTS REQUIRED .
- Heat the bonded connection (1) with a hot air blower until the adhesive is dissolved and release.
- Heat the bonded connection (1) in sections beginning from the rear left and remove.
- Drive the plastic or wooden wedge (1) into the heated section carefully
.
The wedge creates tension between the roof outer skin and the body.
- If the wedge cannot be driven in, continue to heat a large area of the roof outer skin on the adhesive flange (maximum 180°C).
- Heat the bonded connection with a hot air blower until the adhesive is loosened.
- Heat the next section until the roof outer skin is detached.
- Reset the wedge and repeat the process until the roof outer skin is released fully.
Take off roof outer skin.
