Removing the left and right track rods

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
To avoid damage to the steering shaft and its bearing, the rack must be positioned in the steering gear as far as possible.

NOTE: Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.

Preparing the special tool

NOTE: The following steps are only required for work on the right-hand track rod.

Determine the dimension (A) on the special tool 0 496 483 (32 3 220) and increase to 30 mm.
After use, protect special tool 0 496 483 (32 3 220) against corrosion.

Release the tie rod (1) with the special tool 0 496 483 (32 3 220) and remove.
