Description of the manual Li parameter setting for ELEKTRON HS-1000

This description refers to the following charger:

The charger HS-1000 by ELEKTRON has the possibility of storing a special program with self defined charging parameters. Using button (3) the given battery types (NASS. AGM. GEL) and the self created special programs (S1. S2. S3) can be selected. The following steps describe the application of a special program for a lithium ion battery.

Step 1: Initial situation
Before intervention in the parameter setting, the device must be disconnected from the battery or the vehicle. In addition the charging procedure on the device must be canceled by pressing the stop button. as otherwise the parameter may be changed. Hence the operating condition 'CHARGE 12V' and the 'RUN' button must be displayed in the display.

Step 2: Device configuration
The 'SET' button is used to go to the device configuration. Here the parameter can be adjusted individually. At first the value for the charging voltage U appears.

By pressing the '+' and '--' buttons the value is changed in steps of 0.1V. The following value must be entered for a lithium ion battery:

Charging voltage U = 14.0 V

With the 'OK' button one shifts to the next parameter. the value for the charging maintenance voltage Uehl.

The setting is done in the same way.

The following value must be entered for a lithium ion battery:

Maintenance voltage Uehl = 14.0 V

With 'OK' one shifts to the parameter 'maximum output current'.

Please retain this setting. With 'OK' one shifts to the parameter for the duration of the constant voltage charge.

Step 3: Store as special program
The changes carried out can now be stored. By pressing the buttons '+' and'-' the special program 'S1' is called up for permanent storage.

The storage process is confirmed with the 'OK' button. On incorrect input the entire procedure can be canceled with the 'ESC' button. Successful storage is confirmed with the display ' Storage OK'. After that one returns to the main menu 'Charge'.

NOTE: The changes carried out become active only when the special program 'S1' is selected from the main menu using button (3). The charging procedure with the changed parameters can now be started with the 'RUN' button.
