- It is imperative that protruding threads of the transmission bolts are checked for corrosion and damage prior to removal.
- It is imperative that all rust is removed from corroded threads and that they are cleaned prior to removal.
- Replace rusted and damaged bolts.

- Before removing the transmission: Support the engine.
- Protect engine from tipping movements.
- Follow the specifications in the repair instructions.

- Check the transmission oil level after completing the repair.
- Release the screw (1) and disconnect the ground strap.
- Loosen screw (1).
- Unlock plug connection (2) and disconnect.
- Feed out and remove the wiring harness section (3) of the transmission wiring harness.NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Only G05 and G07
On vehicles with an active stabilizer (ARS), the fan cowl must be removed to crank the engine.
For additional information see: REMOVING AND INSTALLING/REPLACING FAN COWL WITH ELECTRIC FAN . - Turn the engine with the special tool 0 493 380 (11 6 480) on the vibration damper in the direction of rotation until the screw (1) becomes visible in the recess.
- Release all 6 screws (1) on the torque converter.
- Prepare special tool 0 494 451 (24 4 160)
using special tool 0 494 622 (24 4 164)
as shown.
- Remove sealing cap (1).
- Insert the special tool 0 494 451 (24 4 160) in the recess of the transmission housing and lightly fix it with the screw (1).
- Screw the bolt (2) in to the stop.
- Tighten screw (1) by hand.
- Loosen clamps (1).
- Hang line (2) on one side.NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Notes on mechatronics are a fundamental requirement for these repair instructions and must be complied with at all times.
(GA8H P50Z/GA8H P51Z/GA8H P75Z/GA8HP) - Unlock connector (1) by turning and detach.
- Do not touch pins.
- Loosen all cable clips.
- Insert the special tool 0 494 213 (24 2 390)
in arrow direction in the sealing sleeve (1).NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
If possible, use special tool 5A0C1B9 to limit the tilting movement of the engine when removing the transmission.
Do not support in the area of the oil filter, oil drain plug or the oil level sensor! - Release the screws (1) on the front axle support.
- Align and install the special tool 5 AOC 1B9 on the front axle support.
- Hand-tighten the screws (1).
- Turn the knurled screw (2) until the plate (3) is in contact.
- Support engine.
- Release the remaining screws (arrows).
- Remove the transmission with transfer box and front prop shaft.
