Removing the speaker cover from the front door trim panel
NOTE:
Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.
Preliminary work
- Refer to REMOVE DOOR TRIM PANEL .
- Refer to REMOVING THE DECORATIVE STRIP ON THE FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL .
NOTE:

- Loosen screws (1) .
Drilling out the spot-welds
Spot-welds or attachment points
Arrow Spot-welds (removal) or attachment points (installation)
- Drill out and/or grind down the marked spot-welds (arrows).
- Slightly compress detentes (1)
with long-nose pliers and disengage downwards.
- Carefully release the upper section of storage compartment in the door (1)
as shown from the frame until the welding pin release the speaker cover (2)
.
Detentes must be disengaged as described in the preceding work step.
- Protect the storage compartment in the door and cover as shown with adhesive tape (1) in the entire area of the speaker cover (2) against scratches.
- Additionally wrap the storage compartment in the door in the area (3) with adhesive tape to fasten the remaining adhesive tape in a better way.
Remove speaker cover
Speaker cover (removal)
- With a support person, pull the storage compartment on the door (1) and cover (2) away from the support until the cover (2) fully exposes the speaker cover (3) .
- Very carefully feed out and remove the speaker cover (3) from the door trim panel.
The speaker cover (3) must be removed very carefully to avoid damaging the storage compartment on the door.
