Installing complete convertible top

- When carrying out all repair work, secure soft top and soft top compartment lid with a suitable support tool against collapsing. Ensure soft top is supported in the middle.

- Remove and install heavy components with the aid of another person/other persons.
- Lift convertible top (1) with the lifting equipment (2) and the workshop crane (3) into the vehicle.
- Position the convertible top (1) in the vehicle with a support person.NOTE: Perform the steps on the left and right side.
- Check if barrel screw (2) is set on the previously noted dimension (x) ; if necessary, correct the dimension.
- When replacing the barrel screw: Adjust the barrel screw (2) with the special tool 0 496 042 (54 0 180)

- Replace the screw (1).

Convertible top on body Torx bolt
M10x25Tightening torque 56 Nm - Store the hydraulic unit (1) on a suitable pad on the tailgate.
- If necessary, insert eyes (2) on the left and right.
- Open convertible top hinge cover (1) by hand.
- Close convertible top (2) manually.
- Convertible top brace (4) is kept in position using the safety eyes inserted in area (3).
Do not remove the safety eyes.
- Position hydraulic unit (1) in the cargo area and connect the existing plug connections.
- Feed in the convertible top wiring harness in the area (2) and connect all plug connections.
- Position all hydraulic lines (1) and clip them in.NOTE: Perform the steps on the left and right side.
- Release adhesive tape (2) from the hydraulic cylinder for convertible top compartment lid (1) and hydraulic lines (3).NOTE: Perform the steps on the left and right side.
- Position the hydraulic cylinder (2) and clip it in.
Ensure that retaining clips (1) engage audibly.
- Open convertible top (1) manually and move it to the position shown.
Convertible top (1) is fully open; the convertible top hinge covers are in the closed position.
- Remove the safety loops (2) to the left and right.
Check
- Store the hydraulic unit (1) level.
- Open and close convertible top at least 2 times.
- With the convertible top closed, check if the oil level is within the mark on fluid tank (2).
Result
» Oil level outside of the mark (2).
Measure
- Open lid (3) and correct the oil level.
- Position control unit (2) and secure it using retaining strap (1).
- Guide in and position hydraulic unit (1).
- Fasten the hydraulic lines (1) and the wiring harness (2) on the existing holders.
- Close soft top completely.
- Replace the screw (1).

- Tighten the screws (1) to the left and right.
