Installing the number plate baseplate for the license plate at the front
WARNING:

- Only install the license plate and number plate baseplate according to the predefined dimensions in the repair instructions.
- Attach the license plate and number plate baseplate to the bumper cover without pre-drilling , otherwise there is a risk of damage to the cables underneath.
- Only use number plate baseplates that have been approved for the vehicle type.
NOTE:
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The license plate must be precisely mounted on the number plate baseplate and must not protrude on the underside.
The license-plate carrier must not be installed on the front bumper.

Positioning the number plate
- Position the number plate or number plate baseplate correctly.
- Make sure that the angle of radiation (1) of the ACC sensor is not obstructed.
- Make sure that the angle of radiation (2) of the front camera is not obstructed.
Detect possible fault patterns resulting from incorrect assembly and rectify

- Check the license plate for correct position.
Result
» License plate is positioned too low.

- Position the license plate correctly.

Measure
- Remove the license-plate carrier.
- With Check Control messages due to incorrect assembly of the license plate or the number plate baseplate: Position the license plate or the number plate baseplate correctly.
- European version:
- Align number plate baseplate (2) in the center on the bores of the radiator grille.
- Screw in and tighten the screws (1) without pre-drilling.

- Do not look into the laser beam.
- Park the vehicle and the special tool 2 407 566 on a flat and even surface.
- Mount the laser on the tripod.
- Switch on laser (Position without automatic level).
- Activate laser horizontally and vertically.
- Clean the bonding surfaces of the number plate baseplate (1) .
CONSUMABLE SPECIFICATION

- Attach the adhesive strips (2)
as pictured to the number plate baseplate (1)
and press down.
- Position and center align the special tool 2 407 566
in front of the vehicle.
Align the vertical laser beam with the center of vehicle (e.g. emblem).
Align the horizontal laser beam as pictured on the edge of the radiator grille frame.
- Align the number plate baseplate in the center on the vertical laser beam and with a dimension of (A) = 230 mm on the horizontal laser beam.
- Clean the bonding surfaces on the radiator grille.
CONSUMABLE SPECIFICATION

- Remove the liner of the adhesive strips of the number plate baseplate.
- Attach the number plate baseplate to the radiator grille and press it on firmly.
