- Before working on the airbag, disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery.
- Airbag unit may only be set down with the cushion (airbag itself) facing upwards.

Deactivate vehicle-specific high-voltage or low-voltage vehicle electrical system

Damage to the high-voltage battery due to the failure to deactivate the high-voltage system before disconnecting the vehicle battery via the high-voltage service disconnect in BEV and PHEV vehicles.

- Before disconnecting the vehicle battery, it is essential to deactivate the high-voltage system via the high-voltage service disconnect in BEV and PHEV vehicles.
- All work on the high-voltage system may only be carried out by specially trained and technically experienced personnel. For additional information, see:
- Deactivate the vehicle electrical system.
- Unclip the cover (1).
- Loosen screw (1).
- Carefully unclip the backrest side section (1) with the airbag in arrow direction from the detent (2).
- Unlock plug connection (3) and disconnect.
- Feed the backrest side section (1) with the airbag in arrow direction out from the bottom retaining tabs (2) and remove it.
