Connecting the negative battery cable of the auxiliary battery in the engine compartment
Remove the battery cover
- Raise the battery ground cable (1).
- Remove special tool 2 452 007.
Attach the negative battery cable of the vehicle electrical system support battery .
- Position the negative battery terminal (2) on the negative battery terminal.
- Tighten the nut on the negative battery terminal (1).

- Position negative battery cable (2) on the negative battery terminal.
- Tighten nut (1) on the negative battery terminal.

Damage to the 48-V battery
If a 48-V battery that is disconnected from the electrical system is activated, the battery electronics will be damaged .

- Only ever activate the 48 V electrical system when the 48 V battery is fully connected up.

- Ensure that the battery cable is screwed together with the correct nut.
- Release the negative battery cable (2) of the 48-V battery from the attachment.
- Position the negative battery cable (2) of the 48-V battery on negative battery terminal.
- Tighten nut (1).TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Negative battery cable to 48-V battery Nut M8 tightening torque 19 Nm - Connect the connector (1) of the CAN bus and lock it.
- Clip in clip (2).
Partially installing the cowl cover
- Engage the cowl cover (1) on to the detent of the water drain channel (2).
- Correctly position the cowl cover (1) and engage it into the retaining strip starting from the side.
Moving the windshield wiper from the service position
- Turn on standby or press and hold the wiper lever (1) down again.
Wipers return to wiper 'parking position' and are once again ready to use.
Activating the 48 V electrical system
- Activate the 48 V electrical system by closing the hood.
The activation takes place automatically.
