Installing the safety battery terminal

WARNING: Working on 12 V electrical system .
Risk of short circuits! Risk of fire!

Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
Detach battery ground lead from battery.
For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.

NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to battery terminal, the safety battery terminal or the intelligent battery sensor (IBS) .
Damaged battery terminals can lead to malfunctions or vehicle electrical system faults .

Detach battery terminal from battery pole by carefully shifting to and fro. Do not pry off using a tool.

Position the positive battery cable (2).

Tighten nut (1).

TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

Positive battery cable to power distribution box
Flange Nut M8	tightening torque 15 Nm

Position cover (1) and clip in.

Clip cable clip (1) into the luggage compartment recess.

Position connector (1) at the safety battery terminal.
Connect connectors (1) and lock.

Position safety battery terminal on the battery terminal.

Tighten nut (4).

TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

Positive battery terminal to battery
Nut	tightening torque 5 Nm

Connect connectors (3) and lock.
WARNING:
Incorrect positioning of the positive battery cable on the safety battery terminal.
Risk of fire!
- Ensure that the positive battery cable is screwed into the correct position on the safety battery terminal.
Position battery positive lead (2) at the safety battery terminal.
Check
Check that the positive battery cable (2) is screwed to the correct position of the safety battery terminal.
Result

» The positive battery cable (2) is screwed to the incorrect position of the safety battery terminal.

Measure
- Correct the position of the positive battery cable (2).

Tighten nut (1).

Make sure that the correct nut (1) is installed!

TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

Positive battery cable to safety battery terminal
Flange Nut M6	tightening torque 10 Nm

Close the positive terminal cover (1).
