Preparing New Parts

Replacing the coarse thread bolts and threaded weld bolts, surface steel 

• Take the number and position from the component to be replaced or the installed parts.
• Replace the coarse thread bolt (1) and the threaded weld bolt (2).

  Parts:  Coarse thread bolt (1), threaded weld bolt (2)

• Weld the coarse thread bolt (1) and threaded weld bolt (2) onto the new part.

  Prepare new parts, left side rail 

• Perform the separating cut (1) at the new part with a material allowance of approx. 5 mm for the separating cut (2) on the vehicle.

  Further information is available.

  Prepare the new part in the separating cut area for installation with an overlap of approx. 5 mm. To do this, slightly adjust the new part in the area of the overlap.

• Make separating cut (1) on new part in accordance with separating cut on vehicle.
• Release the welded connections in the area (2) and remove the component that is not required (3).

• Adjust new parts to fit with alignment bracket or universal mount and secure.
  NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION

• Prepare a reinforcement plate (1) for the separating cut (2).
• In the area of the overlapping separating cut, prepare a MAG weld seam (1) that is approx. 15 mm long.
• Prepare the areas (2) for joining by welding.

• Adjust luggage compartment floor together with the tail panel and secure.
• In areas (1) to (3), prepare for joining using the bonded rivet method.
• In areas (1) to (3) drill out 12 bores of dia. 4.2 mm for blind rivets.

• Prepare the joints in areas (1) and (2) using the bond-and-rivet method.
• In areas (1) and (2) drill out 5 bores to dia. 4.2 mm for blind rivets.

• Prepare area (1) for joining by glue rivet method.
• In area (1) drill out 3 bores dia. 4.2 mm for blind rivets.
• Prepare area (2) for joining by welding.
• Remove new component. Deburr bores.
