Removing positive battery cables

Preliminary work

- Leave the electrical components in their original packaging until they are being installed. Only use the original packaging for returning the product. Always package removed components straight away.
- Read and comply with user information on using the associated special tool 12 7 060.
- Only tap the housings of electrical components. Do not tap pins or multi-pin connectors directly.
- Wear electrically conductive clothing and antistatic shoes (with ESD symbol).

- Unlock the locks (1).
- Feed the cover (2) out toward the top and remove.
- Loosen nuts (1).
- Thread out the positive battery cables (2) and set aside.
- Remove cover (1).
- Release nut (1).
- Disconnect the positive battery cable (2) from the gas generator.
- Release the clip (1).
- Feed out the positive battery cable in the area (2).
- Loosen screw (1).
- Release the wiring harness mountings (2).
- Place the wiring harness (3) on the side.
- Unclip wiring harness mounting (2).
- Release nut (1).
- Remove the grounding points.
- Release the wiring harness section for the integrated power supply module at the snap-in lug (1).
- Loosen screw (1).
- Loosen screw (2).
- Lift the wiring harness section of sensor systems 1 to 4.
NOTE:
To provide a better overview: Illustration of surrounding parts removed.
- Loosen screw (1).
- Release nut (3).
- Lay the grounding point (5) to one side.
- Loosen screw (4).
- Release the clip (2).
- Unlock and disconnect the plug connection (1) on the solenoid switch.
- Loosen nut (1).
- Disconnect positive battery cable from starter motor.
- Disconnect the positive battery cable from the terminal (2) and set it aside.
