Adjust the rear side window
Precondition
- Convertible top is open.
Convertible top compartment lid is in the open position.
Preliminary work
- Refer to REMOVING THE REAR OUTER WINDOW RECESS FINISHER STRIP .
- Refer to RELEASING THE REAR SIDE WINDOW .
Precondition
Vehicle is supported on wheels at ground level.
Door window glass is correctly adjusted.
Battery charger connected (full operability of the power electric windows during the adjustment work is only assured with an external power supply)
- Ideal adjustment, longitudinal direction:
- Adjust the rear side window (1) with distance (A) parallel to the door window glass (2).
Dimension A 15 ± 1 mm - Ideal setting of retraction depth:
- Set the seal (1) of the rear side window as shown for the door window glass (2).
The edge of side window lightly presses the seal (1) fully to the top (slight preload).
- Adjust longitudinal direction and retraction depth:
- Attach the special tool 0 493 731 (51 3 220) to the rear side window (1) as shown.
- The retraction depth is predefined with the seal of the rear side window (1) for the door window glass.
- Set the retraction depth by shifting the side window (1).
- Adjust the rear side window (1) with distance (A) parallel to the door window glass.
Dimension A 15 ± 1 mm - Tighten the multi-tooth screws (2) using special tool 2 360 051
B.TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Multi-tooth screw for side window glass Multipoint screw Tightening torque 9 Nm - Check the longitudinal direction and the recess. Repeat the adjustment procedure if necessary.
- Open the door, if necessary move the door window glass to the top-most position.
- Insert the special tool 5 A45 BD8 into the rotary striker of the door lock and manually lock the rotary striker (door window glass moves all the way up).
- Close the door carefully until the special tool 5 A45 BD8 is on the striker (defined opening angle for the
measurement).
- Measure the preload:
- Measure distance (A) between the rear side window (1) and the inner edge of the door window glass (2).
- Approx. 10 mm below the upper edge of the window glass is measured.
- Without mounted window recess finisher strip (rear):
Dimension A 4.2 ±1 mm - Adjusting the preload:
- Feed in the special tool 0 494 645 (51 2 220) on the power electric windows as shown.
- Turn the adjustment screw (1) with the special tool 0 494 645 (51 2 220) until the correct preload is reached.
- The rear side window must enter the convertible top seals correctly when the convertible top is closed (only check if the window recess finisher strip is mounted).
