- Protect working area
- Handle tools and components carefully
- Mount special tool 0 496 569 (00 9 325) as illustrated
- Destroy the detents (1) of the tailgate button (2) by carefully hitting it with the special tool 0 496 569 (00 9 325)
- Release detents (3) from the inside and unclip the tailgate buttons (2) downwards
- Disconnect the connector (1) and remove the tailgate buttons (2)
- If necessary, remove the broken parts of the tailgate buttons (2) from the tailgate
