Check Of Life Module (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic) Rep-Alg-RAI0141-4105101_Carbon - V.4
The Life module primarily consists of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic components.
The wheelhouse supports consist of cast aluminum parts. The seat cross members consist of extruded aluminum profiles.
The aluminum parts used in the Life module are subject to the notices for TESTING THE DRIVE MODULE .
Visually check Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic components for damage.
For optical testing, strip adjoining components in cases of doubt.
- Breakage
Breakage can be detected at exposed fibers and disruptions.
Components must be replaced if showing signs of breakage.
- Delamination cracking
Delamination cracking describes the separation of multiple layers.
In the case of delamination cracking, the relative component must be replaced.
-
- Break-out of fibers at bores
When clips are removed, there can be break-out at the edge of the bores.
Break-out of individual fibers of the upper-most layer does not constitute damage.
- Break-out of fibers at bores
- Scratches
Perform the FOLLOWING STEPS to assess scratches.
- Break-outs at the edge of the component (around the rear trim panel)
Minor damages are permitted on the rear of the lower adhesive flange (inside the Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic component) of the tail cowling.
Breakouts that do not exceed a width (Y direction) of 20 mm and a height (Z direction) of 5 mm do not consitute damage. The relative component must not be replaced.
- The following optical impairments do not constitute damage:
Visible white threads at the surface.
The white threads serve only for fixing the carbon fibers within the roving fabric. They have no effect on strength:
- If non-replaceable components are damaged, the bodyshell must be replaced.
This applies to the bulkhead and vehicle floor.
