Installing sports steering wheel

Check the neutral position of the coil spring 

Version A: Checking the visibility of the mark on the coil spring 

Check 

• Check the visibility of the mark (1) on the coil spring in the inspection glass (2).

The mark (1) on the coil spring is not visible.

Measure

• Turn the coil spring cassette until the mark (1) on the coil spring becomes visible in the inspection glass (2).

Variant B: Checking the visibility of the mark on the coil spring 

Check 

• Check the visibility of the mark (1) on the coil spring in the inspection glass (2).

Result 

The mark (1) on the coil spring is not visible.

Measure

• Turn the coil spring cassette until the mark (1) on the coil spring becomes visible in the inspection glass (2).

Check 

• Check if a microencapsulated screw (3) is installed.

Result 

Screw (3) is micro-encapsulated.

Measure

• Clean thread in steering column.

  Replace the screw (3).

  Parts:  Screw

• Align mark (1) on steering wheel to mark (2) on steering column.
• Connect steering wheel.

• Connect connectors (1) and lock.
• If installed: Connect connectors (2) and lock.
• Tighten down screw (3).
  TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION
  
  

  Steering wheel to steering column
  M14 Only with micro-encapsulated screw: Replace screw.	tightening torque	62.5 Nm
