Installing tail light on left and right side panel

NOTE: Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.

Install the tail light on the side panel on the left

WARNING: Work on components with requirements for a secure energy supply
Ensure proper function after a repair

Lines are allowed to have only one repair area.
Notices in the diagnostic system circuit diagrams must be observed.
When components are replaced, the notices in the applicable BMW parts catalogue must be observed.

Check seal (1) on the rear light (2) for damage and replace if necessary.

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The thread is a left-hand thread.
Both adjusting elements (1) on the tail light (2) must be in the screwed-in position.

Result

» Adjusting elements (1) are not in the screwed-in position.

Measure
Screw in adjusting elements (1) counterclockwise.
Connect the connector (1) to the tail light (2).
The connector must engage audibly.
Lock the lock (3) in the arrow direction.

Position rear light (1) on the side panel (2).

Prescrew the nut (1).

Position rear light (1) to the front (arrow).
Move the contact surfaces (2) of the rear light (1) upwards (arrow) to contact.
Hold the tail light (1) in position.

Tighten nut (1).

TIGHTENING TORQUES SPECIFICATION

	Tightening torque	3 Nm
