Notes on bonding with adhesive tape on plastic (all X7 models, 2019-2022)

In case of G07, a trim strip is located on the tail light, which is attached with dual-lock tapes. Observe the notes for the installation/replacement of the chrome trim below.

1. General notes 
   • Adhesion at room and object temperature of >+18°C.
   • Optimal bonding to the surface is achieved after approx. 24 h. The adhesion must not be exposed to mechanical strain beforehand, (car wash, strength test, etc.).
   • Do not touch bonding area.
   • It is not the length of time that pressure is applied but rather the force of pressure applied that is crucial for the quality of the bonded connection. Guidelines for adhesive tape bonding "spatial" contact pressure p>/= 10-15 N/cm² , duration of applied pressure t>/= 2 s;
     NOTE: Firm thumb pressure has approx. 35 N/cm²
   • Detaching the adhesive tape after pressing destroys the adhesive layer.
2. Auxiliary materials and tools 
   • Lint-free cleaning cloths (no microfiber due to risk of scratching!)
   • If necessary: Solvent cleaner R1 for removing the adhesive residue.
3. Preparation/cleaning of the bonding surface 
   • Cleaning the bonding surface on tail light with solvent cleaner R1 (TN 2211217) (air drying time of approx. 2 minutes) - Other solvent cleaners are not permitted! Risk of micro-tears/breakage!
   • Thermal pre-treating of the bonding surface on the tail light of any kind is prohibited (no hot air blower)!
4. Bonding 
   • Detach the protective film from the dual-lock tapes.
   • Align the dual-lock tapes on tail light in the correct position on the tail light, press on and bond them together.
   • Minimum contact pressure > 15 N/cm² (firm thumb pressure reaches approx. 35 N/cm² ).
