Replace door trim panel

Preliminary work

Refer to REMOVING THE MIRROR TRIANGLE COVER . .
Refer to REMOVING FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL .

NOTE: During a replacement, remount all installed parts and/or replace as necessary.

Adjusting the door trim panel

Adjust the new door trim panel (1) in the marked areas in the same way as the previous door trim panel.

Removing the left power window switch

Unlock locking pins (1) and pull out from the door trim panel (3).
Unlock and disconnect connector (2).

Remove the power window switch with the switch trim (1) from the door trim panel (2) in the arrow direction.

Removing the Bowden cable for the inner door opener

Release the locking mechanism (1) and remove the Bowden cable (2) toward the top.
The Bowden cable will thread itself out.

Remove the decorative strip from the door trim panel

NOTE: Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.

Loosen screws (1).
Carefully drill out the spot-weld (2) and grind.

Unclip the decorative strip (1) from the clamps (2) and remove.

Removing the speaker cover from the door trim panel

NOTE: Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.

Carefully drill out all marked welding spots (arrows) and grind off if necessary.

Installing the speaker cover from the door trim panel

NOTE: Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.

Saw off all welding pins on the speaker cover (1) along the molding (2).

Remove welding remnants on door trim panel with a scalpel.
Install the speaker cover (1) and lock on the detents (2).
Welding pins must not protrude from the door trim panel.

Screw in and tighten the repair screws (arrows).

TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

Decorative strip/speaker trim to door trim panel
screw	Tightening torque	1.8 Nm

Install the decorative strip on the door trim panel

Install the decorative strip (1) and clip it in at the clamps (2).

Screw in the repair screws (1) and tighten.

Removing the inner door opener

NOTE: Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.

Carefully drill out or grind down all marked spotwelds (arrows).
Release the inner cover (1) at detents (2) and remove.

Install inner door opener

NOTE: Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.

Saw off all the welding pins on the inner door opener (1) along the molding (2).

Install the inner door opener (1) and lock on the snap-in lugs (2).

NOTE: Welding pins must not protrude from the door trim panel.

Screw in and tighten the repair screws (arrows).

TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

Inner door opener to door trim panel
screw	Tightening torque	2.3 Nm

Installing the Bowden cable for the inside door opener

Push the inner door handle in closed direction.
Engage the Bowden cable (2) into the lock (1) towards the front/bottom.
The Bowden cable (2) must be correctly positioned in the provided holders.

Remount the vehicle wiring harness on the new door trim panel.

Installing left power window switch

Correctly position the power window switch with switch trim (1) and install in the door trim panel (2).

Install the locking pins (1) in the door trim panel (3) and lock.
Connect connectors (2) and lock.

If installed: Pressing the contour for the button for the pressurized tank release into the door trim panel

NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE
Careless handling of tools and sharp-edged components .
Scratches, surface damage .

Protect working area.
Handle tools and components carefully.

Abut the special tool 2 466 468 on the door trim panel of the system as shown. Pay attention to left and right-hand drive vehicles.
Transfer bores (2) and (3) from special tool 2 466 468 to the door trim panel.
The bores must be transferred exactly.
Drill through the holes (2) and with small drill of the special tool 2 444 402.
The bores must be drilled exactly.
Drill through the center bore (2) with the large drill of the special tool 2 444 402.

Disassemble special tool 2 444 402.
Position the lower part (1) of special tool 2 444 402 as shown at the top of the door trim panel and insert screw (2).
Put together special tool 2 444 402 as shown.
Align special tool 2 444 402 with the marks and compress by turning the nut (3) in the clockwise direction.
Release nut (3) after cutting through the door trim panel.

Remove the special tool 2 444 402.
Press out the punching residue from the special tool 2 444 402 using the pressing-off tool.
