Preliminary work
- Refer to REMOVING THE LEFT AND RIGHT D-PILLAR TRIM PANEL .
- Refer to REMOVING RIGHT C-PILLAR TRIM PANEL LEFT AND RIGHT .
- Refer to REMOVING THE TOP LEFT AND RIGHT B-PILLAR TRIM PANELS PARTIALLY .
- Refer to REMOVING A-PILLAR TRIM PANEL ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT .
- Refer to REMOVING LEFT AND RIGHT SUN VISORS .
- Refer to REMOVING THE COUNTER SUPPORT FOR THE SUN VISOR ON THE LEFT AND RIGHT .
- Refer to REMOVING THE ROOF FUNCTION CENTER (FZD) .
- Refer to REMOVING ALL GRAB HANDLES .
- Refer to REMOVING REAR INTERIOR ROOF LIGHT .
Precondition
The front seats have been fully adjusted towards the bottom.
The front seat backrests have been fully adjusted towards the rear.
The rear seat backrest is folded toward the front.
NOTE:
RISK OF DAMAGE
Fold the headlining .
Damage to the headlining. If necessary, the headlining must be replaced .
Fold the headlining .
Damage to the headlining. If necessary, the headlining must be replaced .
- Carry out tasks with a second person to assist.
- Support the headlining at the front and back.
- Release the screw (1) underneath the rear interior roof light.
- Lever out the cover (1) from the headlining with the special tool 0 496 569 (00 9 325)

- Loosen screws (1).
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Loosen the headlining at the clips (2).
- Unlock the plug connections (1) in the D-pillar (2) area at left and disconnect.
- Kinking of the headlining must be avoided. Support the headlining at the front and back .
- Loosen the headlining (1) at the clips (2).
- Release the headlining (1) from the sliding/tilting sunroof case and the clamps (3) in the area of the dotted lines.
- Feed out the headlining (1) downwards on the respective edge protection and place it on the seats with two support persons.
