Removing the steering wheel (sports steering wheel)

Danger! Immobilization period-threatening injuries!

All work on pyrotechnic parts may be carried out by technically experienced and appropriately trained personnel only.
Replace any damaged part or ones that have been dropped.

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Wheel alignment is not necessary after removal, installation or replacement.

Preliminary work

Refer to DEACTIVATING THE 48 V ELECTRICAL SYSTEM .
Refer to DEACTIVATING VEHICLE-SPECIFIC HIGH-VOLTAGE OR LOW-VOLTAGE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM .

NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION
When releasing the screw, have a support person brace the steering wheel in order to reduce torque on the steering column!

Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
Release and disconnect connector (2) (if present).
Loosen screw (3).
Move the wheels and the steering wheel to the straight-ahead driving position.
Pull down the steering wheel and remove.
