Removing the acoustic cover of the oil sump
WARNING:

- Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- Detach battery ground lead from battery.
- For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.

- Perform all work only on components that have cooled down.
NOTE:
RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to battery terminal, the safety battery terminal or the intelligent battery sensor (IBS).
Damaged battery terminals can lead to malfunctions or vehicle electrical system faults.

- Detach battery terminal from battery pole by carefully shifting to and fro. Do not pry off using a tool.
Preliminary work

- Refer to DEACTIVATING VEHICLE-SPECIFIC HIGH-VOLTAGE OR LOW-VOLTAGE VEHICLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM .
- Refer to REMOVING THE STIFFENING PLATE .
Precondition
Disconnect all negative battery cables.

- Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- Detach battery ground lead from battery.
- For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.
- Unlock plug connection (1) and disconnect.
- Loosen clamps (2).
- Loosen nut (3).
- Guide the positive battery cable (4) out of the clamp (5) and lay to one side.
- Unlock and loosen the clamps (1).
- Maneuver out the wiring harness section (2) for the automatic transmission and set it aside.NOTE: The following step(s) must be performed if the specified component(s) is/are installed.
- Loosen screw (1).NOTE: The following step(s) must be performed if the specified component(s) is/are installed.
- Loosen the holder (1).NOTE: The following step(s) must be performed if the specified component(s) is/are installed.
- Feed out the transmission oil lines (1) from the holder (2) and place to one side.
- Detach the expanding rivets (1) and (2).
- Release expanding rivet (1).
- Undo fir tree clip (1).
- Release the expanding rivet (1).
- Guide out and remove acoustic cover (2) of the oil pan.
