Removing the catalytic converter for cylinders 5 through 8
Precondition
- Ignition is switched off.

RISK OF DAMAGE
Damage to the gasoline particulate filter.
Forcibly removing, installing or dropping the gasoline particulate filter down will damage it.

Forcibly removing, installing or dropping the gasoline particulate filter down will damage it.
- Remove and install the gasoline particulate filter without damaging it and without applying external force.
- Avoid impacts/knocks to the gasoline particulate filter (e.g. by tools, falling down, hard contact with base).
- Loosen screws (1) to (3).
- Remove screws (arrows).
- Feed out and remove the thrust field (4) in the area (5) of the wheel arch trim panel.
Partially releasing the catalytic converter for cylinders 5 to 8 at the bottom
WARNING: Hot exhaust system.
Risk of burning!- Any work must exclusively be carried out with an exhaust system that has cooled down.
- Release the nuts (1) at the bottom on the catalytic converter for cylinders 1 to 4.
- Loosen catalytic converter from holder.
- Release the nuts (1) at the bottom on the catalytic converter for cylinders 5 to 8.
- Loosen catalytic converter from holder.
- Release bottom screw (1) heat shield.
- Release the heat shield (2) from the lower heat shield.
- Release top screw (1) heat shield.
- Release right heat shield (2) from the other heat shield.
- Thread out and remove right heat shield (2) towards top.
- Release bottom screw (1) heat shield.
- Release the heat shield (2) from the lower heat shield.
- Release top screw (1) heat shield.
- Release left heat shield (2) from the other heat shields.
- Feed out left heat shield (2) to the top and remove.
- Loosen circlip (1) and remove.
- Loosen circlip (2) and remove.
- Loosen screws (1).
- Loosen screws (2).
- Loosen screw (3).
- Remove holder (4).
- Loosen screws (1).
- Loosen screws (2).
- Loosen screw (3).
- Remove holder (4).
- Remove the catalytic converter (1) for the cylinders 1 to 4 in arrow direction.
- Unscrew and remove the catalytic converter (1) for the cylinders 1 to 4 in arrow direction.
- Remove the catalytic converter (1) for the cylinders 5 to 8 in arrow direction.
- Unscrew and remove the catalytic converter (1) for the cylinders 5 to 8 in arrow direction.
