Removing the spring strut holder on left and right

Removing the spring strut holder 

• Loosen nut (1).
• Punch in the swivel bearing (2) at the front towards the inner.
• Pull out screw (3).

  Marking the installation position of the spring strut holder 

  NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION 
  Different variants maybe installed depending on the vehicle equipment.
• Version A: 

  Mark the installation position of the spring strut holder (1) for the spring strut (2) before the removal.

  To do this, it is mandatory  to make a color marking (3) in the extension of the edge (4).

• Version B: 

  Mark the installation position of the spring strut holder (1) for the spring strut (2) before the removal.

  To do this, it is mandatory  to make a color marking (3) in the extension of the edge (4).

• Release the screw (1) from the spring strut holder (2).

• Position the special tool 0 494 541 (31 2 230)  as shown and spread the spring strut holder (1).

  NOTE: RISK OF DAMAGE 
  Failure to comply with the specification. 
  Component damage. 

  • All specifications must  be observed and complied with.
• Protecting the output shaft from damage with a towel is mandatory  (l).
• Release swivel bearing (2) from the attachment on the upper wishbone.
• Guide out and remove spring strut holder (3) downwards in the arrow direction.

  Secure the swivel bearing 

• Fasten the swivel bearing (1) by using the special tool 2 413 317 to protect it from tilting outwards.

  Swivel bearing (1) must not hang down from the brake hose.
