Replace Hood

- Make sure that there is no charger connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
- Detach battery ground lead from battery.
- For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.
NOTE:
Perform the steps on the left and right side.
Preliminary work
- Refer to 6100... NOTES FOR DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING THE VEHICLE BATTERY (ALL X5 MODELS, 2019-2022) . Disconnecting all battery ground leads
- Refer to REMOVING THE FRONT EMBLEM .
- Refer to REMOVING THE JET CHAIN PARTIALLY .
- Refer to REMOVING THE HOOD STRIKER .
Prerequisite
New part is painted.

- Mask those working areas at risk with yellow plastic adhesive tape.
- Remove and install heavy or bulky components with the aid of another person/other persons.
NOTE:
Perform the steps on the left and right side.
- Support the hood.
- Loosen nut (1).
- Release nut (2) and remove hood.NOTE: Perform the steps on the left and right side.
- Position new hood on hood hinge. Note the existing impressions of the nuts (1) and (2).
- Support the hood.
- Renew nuts (1) and (2).

- Install the nuts (1) and (2) and tighten them.TIGHTENING TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS
Engine compartment lid to engine compartment lid hinge Nut M8 Replace nuts. Tightening torque
19 Nm - Slowly close the hood and check for bodywork contact, repositioning the hood if necessary.
- Release all clips (arrows) using the special tool 2 298 505 .
- Remove damping layer (1) and install on the new hood.
- Fit all clips.
- Remove clips (1).NOTE: Perform the steps on the left and right side.
- Release the clips (1) with the special tool 2 298 505
and remove the damping layer (2),NOTE: Perform the steps on the left and right side.
- Remount the seal plug (1) and (2) on the new hood.NOTE: Perform the steps on the left and right side.
- Position the damping layer (2) on the new hood and fasten with clips (1),
- Install clips (1),
- Pull out locking pin (1).
- Remove spacer (2) and install on the new hood,
- Remount the seal plug on the new hood (3),
- Renew sign (1) for refrigerant.

- Stick sign on new hood.
