Removing the auxiliary battery

WARNING: High-voltage system  .
The high-voltage system operates on the basis of hazardous, electrical voltage and high currents. Mortal hazard through electric shock! 
WARNING: System failure (eg steering support) 
Mortal hazard due to system failure 
  • It is mandatory  to replace the vehicle battery when replacing the 12 V battery in G05, G20 and G21 PHEV  vehicles.
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION 
Zero voltage (high-voltage system switched-off) is only displayed with in PAD mode.
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION 
When replacing the starter battery in G05. G20 and G21 PHEV vehicles, the condition of the on-board battery is checked as part of the starter unit battery diagnosis/registration process. Depending on results, the system battery must be replaced.
NOTE: TECHNICAL INFORMATION 
Zero voltage (high-voltage system switched-off) is only displayed with in PAD mode.

Preliminary work 

WARNING: Working on 12 V electrical system. Risk of short circuits! Risk of fire! 
  • Make sure that there is no charger  connected to the jump start terminal in the engine compartment.
  • Detach battery ground lead from battery.
  • For auxiliary batteries: Detach battery minus cables from all auxiliary batteries.
