Installing windscreen (security vehicle)

- Remove and install heavy components with the aid of another person/other persons.
- Fix all the cables and retaining tabs (1) with yellow adhesive tape before installing.

Prolonged storage of the windshield on the inside edge can damage the polycarbonate coating .

- It is mandatory to turn the windshield over (while supporting it) and place it on the outer side before storing it for extended periods.
- Place the windscreen prepared for installation down with inside facing downwards on storage (3).
- Position the special tool 0 494 821 (51 0 100) over the windshield.
- Release the clamping bolts (1) on the left and right.
- Position the special tool 0 494 850 (51 0 104) on the windscreen in such a way that the 4 suction cups in the center on the windscreen.
- Switch on vacuum pump and close valve.

- Make sure that the needle of the vacuum gauge (1) is in the green area.
- Raise the windscreen with the special tool 0 494 850 (51 0 104).
- Secure windshield against falling with cargo straps (1).
- Position the windscreen with the special tool 0 494 850 (51 0 104) over the windscreen opening.
- Release clamping bolts (1) on the left and right.
- Roughly align the windscreen in the angle of slope with the windscreen opening.
- Swivel the cargo straps (2) over the windshield.
- After lowering the windscreen tighten the clamping bolts (1) to make the adjusting of the windscreen easy in future.
- Measure the gap dimension of the windscreen (1) at the A-pillar (2) on the left and right with a ruler (3).
- Center the windscreen with a lateral movement.
- To avoid creaking noises, make sure the windscreen is not resting on the instrument panel (1).
Check the distance with a sheet of paper (2).
- Correct height of windscreen, using spacers if necessary.
- If necessary, repeat the adjustment procedure several times.
Preparing installation of the windshield
- Protect the vehicle interior against contamination.
- Clean body aperture (1) with adhesive bead.

- Clean the painted metal surfaces without the adhesive bead.

- After cleaning, allow to air out.

- Shortly before adhesion with the standard tool, remove adhesive bead (1) on the body aperture.

- Apply the pinchweld scraper as shown and cut back the adhesive bead (1).

- Apply adhesive in area (1).

- Distance (x) of the adhesive bead to the windscreen opening (approx. 3 mm).
- Coat bead joint.
- Use special tool 0 494 850 (51 0 104) to pick up windscreen from the storage and position over the windscreen opening.
NOTE:

If the windshield is fitted on the outer corners, the windshield can break .

- Do not fit the windshield on the outer corners; it must be fit evenly.
- While inserting the windscreen, make sure that both the upper corners of the side panels (2) on the left and right are not damaged.
- Make sure that the adhesive bead is not touched when inserted.
- Deposit windscreen in windscreen opening and even out gap dimensions on A-pillar on left and right.
- Switch off the vacuum pump, open the changeover valve (3) and remove the special tool from the vehicle.
- If necessary, carefully correct the position of the windscreen with the special tool 0 492 609 (51 3 010).
- Press upwards until the rubber frame of the windshield rests evenly on the roof.
- Fix the windscreen in this installation position with yellow plastic adhesive tapes (1).

- Tighten nuts (1).
- If necessary, connect existing connector of the windscreen heating in the areas (1).
