Remove front door window glass

- Handle tools and components carefully.
NOTE:
Description is for left component only. Procedure on the right side is identical.
Preliminary work
- Refer to REMOVING THE MIRROR TRIANGLE COVER . .
- Refer to REMOVING FRONT DOOR TRIM PANEL .
- Refer to REMOVING THE EXTERIOR MIRROR ON THE FRONT DOOR .
- Refer to REMOVING THE WINDOW CHANNEL STRIP ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE FRONT DOOR .
- Secure the door window glass to the door frame when it is closed using adhesive tape.
- Spread both holders (1) on the door window glass simultaneously using special tool 0 496 569 (00 9 325) until it is possible to detach the door window glass.
- Shift the power window down.
- Remove adhesive tape from the door window glass.
- Slide the door window glass (1) down.
- Twist the door window glass (1) in the door frame (2).
- Guide the door window glass (1) out to the top.

- Refer to REMOVING THE WINDOW CHANNEL STRIP ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE FRONT DOOR .
- Refer to REMOVING THE PROTECTIVE PLATE ON THE FRONT DOOR .
- Release and remove the gas-filled shock absorber in the areas (1) on the ball heads.
- Unlock and disconnect the plug connection (1) on the side window.
- Release existing cable bracket.
- Open side window (1) as illustrated.
- Mount special tool 0 492 609 (51 3 010) on the side window (1).

- Remove and install heavy components with the aid of another person/other persons.
- Secure side window against falling with a support person.
- Loosen screws (1).
- Twist the door window glass (1) in the door frame (2).
- Guide the door window glass (1) out to the top.
