Removing left and right charge air cooler

Preliminary work 

• Refer to REMOVING THE TOP LEFT COVER IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT and REMOVING THE TOP RIGHT COVER IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT .
• Refer to REMOVING THE ACOUSTIC COVER .
• Refer to REMOVING UPPER CROSS CONNECTION .
• Refer to REMOVING THE FRONT-END STRUT .
• Refer to REMOVING THE REAR TOP CROSS CONNECTION .
• Refer to REMOVING THE INTAKE FILTER HOUSING ON THE LEFT .
• Refer to REMOVING THE LEFT UNFILTERED-AIR DUCT .
• Refer to REMOVING RIGHT INTAKE SILENCER HOUSING .
• Refer to REMOVING OIL FILLER NECK .
• Refer to REMOVING THE RIGHT UNFILTERED-AIR DUCT .
• Refer to REMOVING THE FAN COWL .
• Refer to REMOVING THE FRONT UNDERBODY PROTECTION .
• Refer to REMOVING THE WHEEL ARCH COVER AT THE BOTTOM FRONT LEFT AND BOTTOM RIGHT .
• Refer to DRAINING THE COOLANT FOR THE LOW-TEMPERATURE COOLANT CIRCUIT .

• Open holder (1).
• Feed the coolant ventilation line (2) out of the holder (1).

• Release the nut (2).
• Put coolant line (1) aside.

• Loosen screws (2).
• Remove connecting plate (1).

• Unlock and disconnect the coolant line (1).
• Unclip coolant line (4) from the holder.
• Unlock and disconnect plug connections (2), (3) and (5).

Partially removing tank ventilation line of cylinder bank 2 

• Unlock and disconnect the tank vent line (1).
• Unclip the tank vent line in the area (2).
• Place tank vent line to one side.

Partially removing tank ventilation line of cylinder bank 1 

• Unlock and disconnect the tank vent line (1).
• Unclip the tank vent line in the area (2).
• Place tank vent line to one side.

• Release the snap ring (1).

• Guide out hose (3) from the holder on the charge air cooler.
• Loosen hose clamp (2).
• Detach hose (1) from the nozzle of the charge air cooler.

• Loosen hose clamp (1).
• Guide out hose (3) from the holder on the charge air cooler.
• Pull the hose (2) off the stud of the charge air cooler.

• Unlock holder (1) upwards using a suitable screwdriver and disconnect it from charge air cooler (2).

• Loosen screw (1).
• Remove washer (2).

• Loosen hose clamp (1).
• Loosen hose clamp (2).

• Release the wiring harness mounting (1).
• Loosen screw (2).
• Guide out holder (3) downwards from grooves (4).

• Unlock and disconnect the coolant line (1).
• Feed out the charge air cooler (2) and remove it.

• Unlock and disconnect the coolant line (2).
• Unclip Lambda oxygen sensor of the cylinder bank 2 (3) out of the holder.
• Unclip the cable of the Lambda oxygen sensor in the areas (1).
• Unlock plug connection (6) and disconnect.
• Unlock the holder (5).
• Put coolant line (4) aside.

• Loosen hose clamp (3).
• Loosen hose clamp (4).
• Loosen screw (1).
• Feed out the holder (2) downwards.

Partial uninstallation of the engine ventilation line of cylinder bank 1 

• Unlock the retaining clip in an upward direction using a suitable screwdriver.
• Slide the engine ventilation line (2) at the back to the side.
• Unlock and disconnect the tank vent line (1).
• Unclip the tank ventilation line (1) in the area (2) from the holder at the clean air pipe.

• Carefully unlock and disconnect the line (1).
• Put the line to one side.

• Unlock retaining clip (1) with a suitable screwdriver.
• Remove the coolant line (2) and lay it to one side.

• Carefully unlock and disconnect the line (1).
• Unlock plug connection (2) and disconnect.
• Put the line to one side.

• Unlock the holder with a suitable screwdriver at the lug (1) and remove it upward from the guide.

• Release the line (1) from the holders (2).

• Loosen screw (1).
• Unlock plug connection (2) and disconnect.
